At
the beginning of each session you will chose the
topic of conversation. This may be something very
specific like a work related challenge, your fitness
level, or an ambition you have, or the subject
can be more general such as lack of direction;
a feeling you put things off or want more out
of life. You may work on one topic for several
sessions or chose a different topic each time.
Once
you have chosen a topic you will decide on a goal
for the session, what you want to have achieved
by the end of our conversation. This could be
something specific such as, how to resolve a dispute
with a colleague, or something more general, like
clarifying what you want out of life.
It is my job to keep you on track, mapping out
with you where you go next to achieve your goal.
I
also check with you that your goals are truly
what YOU want now and are not based on outgrown
ideas or "shoulds and oughts." We identify
and start to change any self or life beliefs which
are holding you back e.g. "I always fail."
We
look at new ways to achieve your goals and explore
alternatives you may not have considered before.
The sessions end by looking at what other support
you may need to achieve your goal and by agreeing
specific actions you want to take.
